The Darkroom to Screen at Cannes Film Festival

As for live-action features, IDT Ent. will be
bringing three new projects to Cannes.
THE DARKROOM is being produced with Mindfire
Ent. and CFQ Films. Mark Altman and Mark
Gottwald, the team of HOUSE OF THE DEAD, HOUSE
OF THE DEAD: DEAD AIM, are producing. Mike Hurst
(HOUSE OF THE DEAD: DEAD AIM) is helming. The
cast includes Greg Grunberg (ALIAS, MISSION
IMPOSSIBLE III), Reed Diamond (SPIDER-MAN 2,
GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK) and Lucy Lawless
(BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, XENA: PRINCESS WARRIOR).
Having lost his memory after a case of severe
amnesia, a man leaves the institution where he
has been for 15 years, in search of answers.
Alone and homeless, the man befriends a young
boy who agrees to help him recover his memory.
In exchange, the boy wants the man to help him
investigate his abusive stepfather, who
inexplicable locks himself in the house’s
darkroom every night.

Rob Tapert to judge horror channel film competition
- CUT! is a new short horror film competition, just
launched by The Horror Channel in association with Ghost
House Mobile. Entrants are encouraged to send in a
two-minute horror film. The winners will get the chance
to see their names in lights and their films on the big
screen. The films will also be edited for mobile and
made available on an exclusive Horror Channel WAP site
launching this month and on Ghost House Mobile. Your
entries will be judged by Sam Raimi's producing partner
Rob Tapert, Troma legend Lloyd Kaufman and horror expert
Alan Jones.

The new film will focus on the early days of Captain Kirk and Mr.
Spock, including their first meeting while at Starfleet Academy as
well as their first outer space mission together. This is an idea
that hearkens back to Trek producer Harve Bennett’s old
Starfleet Academy pitch, which was eventually supplanted by
Star Trek VI. Obviously this means that new actors will play the
classic characters created by William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, the
first time this has ever happened (in an official capacity, and not
counting mind/body swaps from the old show, you Janet Lester fans).

B-D scooper 'Toenails' is back with more Grind House casting
news in Austin, Texas where Robert Rodriquez's 'Project Terror'
is on hold for a week or so. Joining 'Terror' are Jeff Fahey
(The Lawnmower Man), Rose McGowan (Scary Movie) and Lucy Lawless
(Xena). He also "thinks" Danny Trejo is in one of the 'trailers'
that will be between the two films and not in any of the films
themselves (but nothing is confirmed). He also reports via some
local papers that Mickey Rourke plays the bad guy in Quentin
Tarantino's 'Death Proof, which will shoot soon in Los Angeles.
If you missed the major casting announcement yesterday, click
here. Hitting theaters December 1st, Rodriguez's part, "Project
Terror," will be a zombie pic, while Tarantino's section, "Death
Proof," will a slasher seg.

at the Chevron Refinery Fire Station in El Segundo. They'll be

I REALLY hate it when this happens. It upsets me when people
work so hard in creating these great videos only to have to someone
come and rip them off. I just received the following message from
Wendy Woody and if you have created music videos please check this
youtube to see if your work has been stolen.
There is someone posting stolen Xena music videos at YouTube.
He took my Xena TV Themes video from the 2005 Xena con, added
new opening graphics and his own (maybe) Friends video, and is
calling it his own.
He goes by xenawpngab and his profile says his name is
Christopher.

Possible Lucy Movie?
There have been a couple of reports of
Lucy being in a Quentin Tarantino movie called Grind House. You can
read those
here and
here. The Internet Movie Database (pro edition) has this blurb
about this movie and doesn't list Lucy in the credits:
"Two 75 minute horror movies written by
Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez put together as a two film
features. Including fake movie trailers in between both movies"
The movie is currently filming in Austin, Texas. There is no
mention of Lucy's name in the credits (doesn't mean she hasn't
already filmed her parts and the IMDb hasn't been updated). Stay
tuned.

Charity Ball. Starship's most famous supporter, Lucy
Lawless, came home for a special event last week. She was one of
a number of stars to attend the Auckland Cup Charity Ball in
support of the Starship Foundation, at Ellerslie Convention
Centre in Auckland. Kerre Woodham hosted the event and looked
every inch the hostess, in a sparkly blue Shoshama dress.

forgotten were there.

is Lucy's first interview for Xena. It was via satellite from New
Zealand with WGN News on 28 October 1995. At the time they were
filming Death In Chains.
