"Despite concern among analysts,
Mr McAlpine [managing director of Ten] welcomed the end of the network's programming
agreement with Hollywood studio MCA-Universal in 2001, an alliance that has provided the
network with award-winning shows such as Law & Order. 'We don't lose Law & Order
or Xena or any of the other Universal programs in 2001'."
'Whichever programs we are showing, when that deal expires we
will keep while they keep running,' Mr McAlpine said.Group general manager, finance, Mr
Peter Myers, said the quality of programs delivered by the MCA-Universal alliance had been
'disappointing' lately."
