Moon Found Orbiting Suspected 10th Planet
A recently discovered object that could be the solar system's 10th
planet turns out to have a moon, Caltech scientists announced.
The moon, nicknamed Gabrielle, is about 150 miles across. It was
spotted Sept. 10 with the Keck II telescope in Hawaii by a team
headed by Michael E. Brown, the Caltech astronomer who discovered
the 10th planet, known as Xena. Both objects are located beyond
Neptune in what is known as the Kuiper Belt.
