review about TOPLESS WOMEN TALK ABOUT THEIR LIVES

italian.jpg (19212 bytes)"Topless women talk about their lives" is a strange and curious movie, written and directed by Harry Sinclair:<<we started shooting some scenes in the Ian Hughes' bedroom during a weekend, and now it is a real feature film.Great!>>. Filmed in various houses using a handicap, with the actors free to improvise and without a real screenplay, this movie tells the stories(intertwined)of the extravagant Liz(D.Cormack)who forgets to abort ,of Ant who is writing a movie about women in topless,of Prue(W.O'Neill) who wants everything in her life to go in the right way,of Geoff(A.Binns)who learns to knit. Everyday life events made of idiosyncrasy and normality, jealousy and friendship, depression and hilarity.A minimalist movie and,by necessity ,a low budget one.Characteristics already developed by the author- director Sinclair in other works. The music that goes through the movie has got an important role,a mix of the best NZ sound.

Brief critic from VARIETY: In spite of the title, the movie is not a sociological documentary but a mix of stories that go through the overflowing performance of Danielle Cormack ,who comes into contact with a great crowd of characters, and a sometimes annoying non stop soundtrack.
