Lucy's Wedding Victory

Lucy Lawless' dream came true - she married the day before she turned 30

Kiwi star Lucy Lawless walked down the aisle after giving her fiance the ultimatum: 'If you don't make me a bride before I turn 30, I'Il find someone who will!'  /p>

But the Warrior Princess beat her deadline and tied the knot with Rob Tapert, the producer of her hit series, in a fairy tale ceremony on March 28 at St Monica's Catholic church in Santa Monica.

After Rob popped the question last spring, 'Lucy told him, "I'm not getting any younger and neither are you. If we want to have children we need to get married before I'm 30!" ' an insider revealed.

'Because it was such a big deal to her, Rob made a joke of it.

'He told her that he was going to make her wait until she was 29 years and 364 days old - and he did!'

Just 10 hours before she turned 30, Lucy walked down the aisle on her father's arm in a full-length white silk gown with a deep neckline.

'Lucy never looked more beautiful,' said the insider.

'Tears streamed down her cheeks during the ceremony. She had to stop and wipe the tears from her eyes.  'When she finally squeaked out the words "I do," guests applauded. Then Rob planted a big kiss on her lips. '

The newlyweds and their 300 guests, including Lucy's co-star Kevin Sorbo and his new bride, celebrated at the Beverly Wiltshire hotel in Beverly Hills.

'Everyone sat down to a dinner of lobster and asparagus salad, sea-bass, lamb and caramelised bananas with truffles.  'The four-tier wedding cake had pink frosting decorated with white seashells and coral.  'After they cut it, Rob tenderly fed Lucy a piece and whispered, "You've made me the happiest man alive".

'At the stroke of midnight Lucy told Rob, "This is the best birthday present ever. I'm Mrs Robert Tapert!" '

The newlyweds, who exchanged gold and platinum wedding bands, honeymooned at a resort in Mexico and then moved on to California's Napa Valley.

And Lucy told a friend: 'Rob and I want to give my daughter Daisy, who's 10, a brother or sister soon.  The only problem will be disguising my pregnancy in those skimpy Xena oufits. But Rob says it can be done with speciaI camera angles.

'He's definitely Mr Right for me. I'm so happy!'
