Six and out for Princess Xena

* PACK UP your breast plates and throw away your swords:

Xena the New Zealand-based Warrior Princess is about to fight her last foe.

Since debuting on American TV five years ago, the show, which costs about $US1 million (just under $A2 million) an episode, has worked its way on to the television sets of more than 115 countries and turned its star, Lucy Lawless, into the definition of a cult figure.

But while the show's production company hopes to keep working with Lawless in the future, she won't be wielding any ancient weapons: production of Xena will stop when the show's sixth season finishes filming early next year.
