Warrior Women
The documentary series that Lucy
narrated "Warrior Women" will be shown on South African TV
on Tuesday night. Below is an article from Pretoria News
(Tonight Section) about Xena and the doco:
-
Xena and her warrior women July 31, 2006 -
Tonight (Pretoria News)
She stood tall as an oak tree, her long jet-black hair
framing a face men would kill for; her body worthy of
the silks of a pampered queen, but dressed instead in
skin-tight leather; her only adornments a sword and pair
of lethal hands able to crack a head open with one blow.
Her name was Xena … for best effect, whispered, her
still-adoring fans will tell you, with just a little
breathlessness in the tone.

Pandemonium erupted as 6,000 fans crowded the doors
of Ballroom 20, awaiting Sci Fi’s Battlestar
Galactica panel, attended by stars Edward James
Olmos and Lucy Lawless (who appears in an upcoming
10-episode third-season arc). Executive producer
David Eick and Olmos, caught up in the rock star
atmosphere of cheering fans and cameras flashing by
the hundreds, were soon tossing spoilers like candy,
to the consternation of the network.

Possible new show for Lucy?
The following report
is from
TDS Internet Services News
- Is Fox softening its edge? 07/25/06 - 07:35 AM
In other Fox news:
*Fox has lined up a batch of singers to pair with
not-usually-singing celebrities for Celebrity Duets,
a new short-run reality series that arrives Aug. 29 (8
ET/PT). The show, produced by Simon Cowell, is a riff on
Dancing with the Stars. Instead of professional dancers,
to-be-named celebs will sing with Cyndi Lauper, Smokey
Robinson, Dionne Warwick, Randy Travis, Brian McKnight,
Macy Gray, Patti LaBelle, Kenny Loggins, Chaka Khan,
Richard Marx, Michael Bolton, Clint Black and Aaron
Neville. Composer David Foster is one of the judges;
Lucy Lawless is among other celebrities to be announced

Dragonlance Movie Update
There's an interview
with George Strayton about the movie (George wrote the
screenplay) on the
Dragonlance Nexus site and there's a Lucy mention:
Dragonhelm: You previously worked with Lucy Lawless
on Xena: Warrior Princess. What was it like working with
her again on the Dragonlance movie?
GS: She's a gifted actress, plus she's just plain fun to
work with and be around. We had a great time recording
her part.
Dragonhelm: One review I read of Xena was that it is
"smart TV pretending that it's dumb". Do you think this
is a fair characterization?
GS: I think it's close. At least, that's what we strove
for. Unfortunately, there are a few episodes that are
dumb TV not even trying to pretend to be smart.

Xenaverse Bards - Book Update
Here’s a book announcement from KG MacGregor:
Thanks to all of you who have written looking for
Just This Once. I’m happy to announce it is now
available from Bella Books, with a brand new cover from
Steph. You might recognize the story of Wynne Connelly and
Paula McKenzie as one that appeared on the web as Getting It
Right. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the feedback
you sent on that story. Because of you, the book version is
longer, with deeper insights into both of the lead
characters, and more scenes from their road together. You
can read the first chapter of the book at my website,
www.kgmacgregor.com
For anyone headed out to Provincetown, I’ll be signing
copies of
Just This Once and Undercover Tales at Vixen

Pratt Is Fit For Day Break
Victoria Pratt, who will star in ABC's upcoming fantasy
series Day Break, told SCI FI Wire that her work as a
fitness writer helped her ease into her acting career.
The athletic actress has appeared in Xena: Warrior
Princess and Mutant X and will now play a detective
opposite Taye Diggs in Day Break, about a guy who
relives the same day over and over. "I'm detective
Andrea Battle, an undercover narcotics detective,
and, of course, I have a few secrets," Pratt said in an
interview at the Television Critics Association's summer

Xena Planet News
- ASTRONOMERS are expected to add at
least one new planet to the nine in
our solar system. The new body,
provisionally named Xena, is 14 billion
kilometres from the Sun -- about 100
times more distant than Earth and well
beyond Pluto. Its diameter is 2399km,
113km greater than that of Pluto, the
smallest and most distant planet, which
may qualify Xena for planetary status.
The decision will be taken at a meeting
of the International Astronomical Union
in Prague next month, when 2000
astronomers will be asked to vote on the
expansion of the solar system.

Galactica Year Four, Optimus Prime, and More
Written by Scott Collura Friday, 21 July

I bumped into Battlestar Galactica’s Chief
Tyrol, Aaron Douglas, at the Diamond Select toy
party last night, and he let loose with word
that the show is currently shooting episodes 11
and 12 of season three, and that, yes, his
character and Cally are in fact now the proud
parents of a son named Nicholas. He also says
that a season four for the show is all but a
sure thing, citing the potential of a
syndication package that would rely on at least
a four-year string of episodes. - Many thanks

Lucy & Renee -
Back 2 Back DVD Review
I usually don't do reviews
but I just wanted to with this one. The Lucy & Renee Back 2
Back DVD is from Creation and it's Lucy and Renee's stage
time during the 2006 Xena Con in January. I didn't attend
this convention and I'm really stoked Creation is doing
these DVDs because I get to be there without flying 13 hours
to get there <vbg>
Disk 1 was Lucy. I found Lucy to be her usual funny,
charming and thoroughly endearing self and her singing of
the "Cowboy Song" to be so beautiful; accompanied by Sharon
Delaney and her guitar. I never get tired watching this
woman whether she is acting or being just Lucy.
Disk
2 contained Renee's performance. I came away from watching
this DVD thinking that Renee had undergone a metamorphosis
in her thinking and the way she looked at certain issues by
her trip to Israel and Jordan. It's one of those moments
when you know it's life changing. Her trip up
Mt
Kilimanjaro changed her and this trip also changed her.
Her reading of a monologue from her friend about life as an
Israeli and how different she viewed life which constrasted
to how Renee saw things was extraordinary. Very thought
provoking and quite moving. Renee made her experience in
travelling to Israel come alive; you could hear the
excitement and the awe in her voice. Watching Renee share
her thoughts, her plans and her desire to do something
different was fantastic.
Being a fan of these two women is so so easy.
In my
opinion this is the
best DVD Creation has produced of these two fantastic
women. Many many thanks to Lucy and Renee for sharing their
time with us and to Creation and Sharon Delaney for
producing the DVD.
You can buy the DVD from Creation by going to their site

A librarian fleeing for her life from a vengeful

What could the two possibly have in common?

& Jones by Advocate & T. Novan (alt)
Once I stopped laughing so hard I had tears running
down my cheeks, I decided to give this an award. It's one of the
funniest
stories I have ever read. Delilah Foster & Dixie Wagner follow the
great tradition of those tv preachers who swindle money from good Christian
people. What they don't bank on is a visit from 'God' and his mama. They
are soon turned from their bad ways and want to give away the money but
it's not so easy. This is a must read if you want a pick me up and a really
feel good story.
