Rally the troops for Xena....
The
following is from Chris:
Hi all,
Over on the poll for best athlete, we have gotten Xena up to
#2. Now all the men are panicking and saying nasty things
and trying to form an alliance to knock her down some. So
far it's not working. Xena is at #2 and only about 670 votes
away from taking first place.
Please spare a few moments and drop a vote for her. You can
vote every 5 minutes and you can post a comment also. So
let's all get her up to #1 and show those boys up. :)
Polling ends at the end of month.

Battle on!!
Thanks,
Chris

Dragonlance Movie Update
News that is filtering
through is that Lucy jumped the gun and announced her
involvement with the movie ahead of time. The news wasn't
supposed to be announced so soon. Oops. At least it made the
Dragonlance fans happy.
In other news about the movie, the
animated movie will be based on the first novel
Dragons of Autumn Twilight which was written
by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.
Lifelong
friends, they went their separate ways. Now they are
together again, though each holds secrets from the others in
his heart. They speak of a world shadowed with rumors of
war. They speak of tales of strange monsters, creatures of
myth, creatures of legend. They do not speak of their
secrets. Not then. Not until a chance encounter with a
beautiful, sorrowful woman, who bears a magical crystal
staff, draws the companions deeper into the shadows, forever
changing their lives and shaping the fate of the world. No
one expects them to be heroes. Least of all, them.

Lucy in new Animated Movie: Dragonlance
(new subsite)
Lucy
has announced that she will be in a new Paramount animated
feature. The movie is based on the Dragonlance books. Lucy
will voice a Native American character called Goldmoon that
will sound like Xena according to her funny message on her
site. Click
here to read.
Goldmoon was designed to be a female barbarian, who was kind,
understanding, loved to travel, advising, and taking care of
other people. Gifted with a good voice, she finds pleasure
in singing. As a high profile member of her community, she
is a natural speaker, able to inspire others to reach for
their own goals.

What is Dragonlance?
The following information
is from Wikipedia
Dragonlance is a large series of fantasy
books, and
a Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting. Draconians and kender are
creatures unique to this fantasy world. To further differentiate it from
other similar fantasy settings, Dragonlance is supposed to have a
post-apocalyptic feel, although this emphasis has
considerably lessened over the years

Bruce in Touch the Top of the World on Sunday
Bottom line: An inspiring biopic that
credibly documents a phenomenal achievement,
though the intensity is downsized for the family
audience.
8-10 p.m. Sunday, June 18 A&E
It's pretty much inconceivable that a blind
man could climb the 29,000-foot-plus Mount
Everest. Scaling the world's highest peak is
challenging enough for someone with all of their
senses intact. So clearly, Erik Weihenmayer
deserves his own TV-movie docudrama that honors
his truly mind-boggling achievement. As a
biopic, A&E's "Touch the Top of the World" --
based on Weihenmayer's book of the same name --
is nothing if not flattering and laudatory, and
appropriately so. It does his incredible story
proud. The guy is portrayed as a hero not merely
for the blind community but indeed the human
race itself. I mean, what he did in May 2001 is
the equivalent of hitting a home run off Roger
Clemens while swinging a pool cue. Into a
headwind. When he's not moving into thin air,
Weihenmayer is shown bonding with his dad (Bruce
Campbell), meeting a beautiful woman (Sarah
Manninen) and marrying her and fighting through
his own self-doubt that we're led to believe
presents the only real barriers to what this
blind wonder can do.

Warrior Princess
inspired Beth Parks to ride
Believe it or not, superhero/Warrior Princess Xena of
the so-named TV series is the reason Deborah (goes by Beth)
Parks, Cyclist # 6185, of Oxnard, began riding in
AIDS/Lifecycle. She discovered a series of stories on the
Xena online fan fiction site in which the characters train
for, then ride in, an AIDS ride. “I am kind of removed from
the larger gay community, being that I live in the ‘burb,
plus I’m not very good at following the politics of our
community, so I saw it as a way to do something for the
community that was within my abilities,” Beth says. She has
ridden every year beginning with ALC 2. For ALC 4, Xena and
sidekick Gabrielle action figures were her route-slip
holders.

mention and also about Lucy's Official Fan Club:
One of Duke's favorite sources was Xena the Warrior

name, was filming a movie in New Orleans just before Katrina
arrived.
"We got huge support from Lucy," Duke says. "Her fan
club is like my Internet service. Whenever I came to a brick
wall and I couldn't find something, I'd give them a call and
they'd help me. They've been major, major support. They
brought truckloads of supplies, too. Lots of them."

High hair and glam at Schwarzkopf Awards
I've

I
had the absolute pleasure of going to see
Faith Prince in her
Leap of Faith cabaret show on Wednesday here in Sydney. It
was such a great performance. For those that don't know who
Faith is - Faith starred as Lorelei Lee with Lucy (Dorothy
Shaw) in
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes musical in Seattle back in May
2005 which I absolutely loved to little bits. It was from
those performances I became a Faith fan. This woman is an
extraordinary talent - comedic timing and her voice are just
amazing. If you haven't had the chance to see her - do so if
she comes to your neck of the woods. She sang all the songs
from her
Leap of Faith CD. A real talent and a very funny lady.
Xena Mention
- Studio wrestles with how to use Superman's new
gay side
Houston Chronicle Tue, 06 Jun 2006
Even at a
time when moviegoers embraced Brokeback Mountain ,
there may be a different challenge for an action movie
that happens to be attracting a gay following....The
1990s TV series Xena: Warrior Princess had a loyal and
large following among lesbians (which the show courted)
and the rock band Queen maintained a huge audience of
young straight males despite the gay imagery of its
name, music and stage shows. In comics, it has become
increasingly common to not only create new gay
characters but also to rework the mythology of long-time
heroes to make them gay, as is the case with both
Batwoman and Colossus.

Darkroom Movie
Arrow In the Head has an
interview with Writer/Director Mike Hurst about his movie
Room 6. Mike also directed Lucy's movie The Darkroom.
Where are THE HARVEST and THE DARK ROOM at in terms of
distribution?
I
don’t know much about The Harvest, it was shot for a
very low budget and I’ve never seen it, I just wrote the
script. The Darkroom is the film we made after Room 6.
IDT were happy with Room 6 and asked Mark and I to come
up with another one. I had an idea, Mark added to it, we
pitched it and IDT said yes. It’s a psychological horror
movie with, I think, our best twist at the end. We made
it literally a few weeks after we’d wrapped on Room 6,
with the same crew again.
It
was an amazing rollercoaster rise, doing 3 movies inside
9 months. The Darkroom stars Lucy Lawless from Xena and
Battlestar Galactica, Shawn Pyfrom from Desperate
Housewives, Reed Diamond from Good Night and Good Luck
and Greg Grunberg from Alias. All the actors were great,
with both Lucy and Greg playing waaay off type. I’m
really proud of the film and look forward to completing
post-production when I get back from Romania, which is
where I am right now.

Lucy's Wild Home Life
- New Zealand Woman's Weekly 5 June 2006
She has a successful career, loving family and a heart of

there's a snake hiding in her and husband Rob Tapert's LA

so it's most definitely alive and slithering. There's a
possibility it is cosying up to their pet tarantula
somewhere, but it has more than likely found a nice warm
