Ghost Town The Movie Review by MaryD

I was fortunate the other day to receive a DVD copy
of Ghost Town The Movie to review by Dean Teaster. Ghost Town stars
Renee O'Connor as Little Jack and a great cast. What is this movie about? Appalachian folklore and legend tell the story of a man in 1856, who came
out of the mountain wilderness of Cold Springs, North Carolina to avenge his
father's death. In his wake he left a Ghost Town. Today, twenty years later
he returns to avenge his daughter's honor.

Los Angeles. This interview is quiet lengthy and so
interesting. Adrienne talks about her career choices,
living in Hollywood, being a voiceover actress, her new
Star Wars role, Xena and her thoughts on working in New
Zealand, working with Lucy, Renee, Kevin Smith and much
more. The interview is just over 1 hour in
length. It is a lengthy download (10
video clips) but it's the best interview I've seen of
Adrienne and quite fun.

- TV Guide has named their 30 Top Cult Shows Ever
and Xena comes in at #10! I'm not sure how Buffy
comes in at #3 (that's the only one I would
question). Star Trek comes in at #1.

ABC's drama "Football Wives" is going into overtime.
ABC Studios, which produced the pilot based on the
popular ITV series "Footballers Wives," has extended
the options on the actors, an indication that the
project remains in contention at ABC. "Football
Wives," written by Marco Pennette and directed by
Bryan Singer, was one of ABC's highest-profile
pilots this past development season, and its failure
to make it onto the network's schedule was
considered a surprise. Revolving around the wives of
professional football players, the show stars
Gabrielle Union, Lucy Lawless, Kiele Sanchez, Ving
Rhames and James Van Der Beek. Although ABC still
has the rights to "Wives," sources said that several
other networks, including NBC and Fox, have
expressed interest if ABC decides to pass on it.

Ghost Town The Movie Book
The book also contains some pics from the movie
and one of them is of Renee.

Celebrity friends of the late actor Kevin Smith
rally to assist his family. When actor Kevin Smith
fell to his death on a Beijing movie set in 2002, it
was a cruel blow to his many fans, who were just
starting to see the star of Hercules: The Legendary
Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess fulfil his
Hollywood potential. But it was an even bigger
tragedy for Kevin's childhood sweetheart and wife of
18 years, Suzanne, and their three young sons Oscar,
Tyrone and Willard. The family has never spoken
publicly about the freak accident nor asked for help
but now, five years on, Kevin's friends are joining
together to support his family through the Kevin

Battlestar Galactica: Season 4 Panel Video Highlights
Not too long ago, Sci-Fi Channel's golden child, the
re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, announced
that their upcoming 4th season would be their last. Last
Wednesday, NBC/Universal and Sci-Fi Channel put together
a one-time only Battlestar Galactica All-Access Special
Event, and your friends at G4tv.com
were there!
Lucky fans were treated a special screening, followed
by a panel that included Executive Producers Ronald D.
Moore and David Eick, as well as stars Edward James
Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Jamie Bamber, and Katee Sackhoff.

had a wake-up call from one of our most famous and
favourite home grown celebrities, Lucy Lawless. New
Idea can report that the former Xena star and now
lady rocker got her best advice on her new singing
career from Dionne Warwick. Lawless learned to ditch
any notions that "I'm a self-deprecating Kiwi" to
find her inner rock diva. Photos of her squeezed
into a silver Lycra outfit prove indeed that Lawless
is no shrinking silver fern.

Natural disaster in Sydney and
the east coast of Australia
Over the Queen's Birthday long weekend, the east
coast of Australia has been battered. Truly battered.
We've had strong gale force winds, torrential rain and a
whole lot of damage. Please spare a thought for people
who have lost loved ones. At the moment the death toll
stands at 9 - people washed off bridges, roads
collapsing into ravines, trees through houses...flood
waters from rivers that were at near empty have been
filled and have broken their banks and are heading to
other communities down the track.

might be coming back to Battlestar for the final
season?
First, check out our Q&A with Battlestar's bosses if
you haven't yet! As for L.L. (not to be confused
with Lindsay or Cool J), I've heard from sources
that producers have approached her to return, and
according to executive producer Ron Moore: "It’s
possible. It’s in the planning stages but nothing
firm." The good news is that Lawless' pilot—Football
Wives—was not picked up by ABC. And trust me, that's
a very good thing.

Ausiello: A slim one. Ronald Moore told
reporters last week that "the plan is to end
the show to bring us to a definitive
conclusion. There are no plans, or even
thoughts in our heads, of doing a full-on
feature or miniseries or anything beyond
that. But it is the kind of thing where you
never say never." Moore and David Eick also
confirmed that they've approached Lucy
Lawless — newly sprung from ABC's passed-on
remake of Footballers Wives — about
returning for the final season.

footstool and makes quite the discovery: a heavy
sword. "Hello, Xena," Brass quips. There is also a

SCI FI Channel is inviting fans of its
SF series Battlestar Galactica to a
panel discussion with the cast and crew
in Los Angeles, followed by a sneak peek
at the upcoming fourth season. It will
take place at the Cinerama Dome theater,
6360 W. Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles, on
June 6 at 8 p.m. The panel will be
moderated by cast member
Lucy Lawless, who will be joined by
co-stars Edward James Olmos, Mary
McDonnell, Jamie Bamber and Katee
Sackhoff. It will be followed by a peek
at Battlestar Galactica's fourth season,

Calling All Xena Fans!
I've been asked to pass this on to any Xena fan
who wishes to participate in a study being conducted by
Star
The purpose of my study is to analyze the media
content and representations of gays/lesbians on the
television program Xena: Warrior Princess (Tapert, 1995)
and to explore its use of gay/lesbian subtext as an
example of a non-normalized queered televised
curriculum. The use of the word “subtext” in this study
will refer to the verbal and non-verbal cues the
characters of the show relayed to its audience members.
My main research questions are: (1) How did the use
of gay/lesbian subtext in the television program Xena:
Warrior Princess (Tapert, 1995) aide Xena fans in
viewing a non-normalized depiction of the
gay/lesbian/bi-sexual/transgendered/queer/intersexed
(GLBTQI) community? [In other words, was the use of
subtext able to subvert the stereotyping of lesbians?]
(2) How was this community of discourse received? And,
in what ways? [How did Xena fans react to the subtext?]
(3) How did the public political pedagogy influence the
social construction of the show? In what ways was a
community of discourse recognized? [What was going on
politically at that time they may have influenced the
“need” for the subtext? How were the voices of Xena fans
recognized?] (4) Furthermore, where is there evidence of
a formation of solidarity and personal empowerment
amongst Xena fans as a result of it having been aired?
[How were the lives of Xena fans affected by the show,
and in particular, the death of the heroine?]
In the process of addressing these questions, I will be
looking at the net narratives of Xena fans on the
Internet pertaining to the gay/lesbian subtext of the
show, and supplementing these net narratives with
stories generated from Xena artifacts, personal
interviews, and focus group discussions with Xena fans.
In attempting to define the methodology of my
qualitative study of the pedagogical implications of the
gay/lesbian subtext of Xena: Warrior Princess (Tapert,
1995) on Xena fans, the most fitting description of my
role as a qualitative researcher would be that of a
weaver of tapestries. The three conceptual tools I will
use to analyze my data will be: narrative analysis,
discourse analysis, and metaphor analysis.
I am looking for Xena fans to share their stories with
me. What impact did Xena make on you? Do you still mourn
her death? Why? Why not?

Lucy to Moderate BSG Panel in LA - 6
June 2007
The following was posted on the
SciFi.com site.
SCI FI Channel is inviting fans of its
SF series Battlestar Galactica to a
panel discussion with the cast and crew
in Los Angeles, followed by a sneak peek
at the upcoming fourth season. It will
take place at the Cinerama Dome theater,
6360 W. Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles, on
June 6 at 8 p.m. The panel will be
moderated by cast member
Lucy Lawless, who will be joined by
co-stars Edward James Olmos, Mary
McDonnell, Jamie Bamber and Katee
Sackhoff. It will be followed by a peek
at Battlestar Galactica's fourth season,
which returns to SCI FI Channel in
January 2008.
