• Season 2 is out and the picture is fantastic. Okay it seems the version at Best Buy has a 30 minute interview with Lucy & Renee. It's only available at Best Buy - why? Who knows. The bad thing about Best Buy is that they don't ship outside the US. For those not in the US - you can buy it from Amazon.com
   
• Now here's a way for your voice to be heard - Kym Taborn is taking your suggestions about what you want to see in the Season 3 DVD release - ie interviews, commentaries etc. to give to Anchor Bay for the next release. They really want to know what the fans would like to see which is pretty cool. So if you have a suggestion email Kym.

Marion Texas: I've very much enjoyed the commentary (yours, Rob Tapert's, Renee' O'Connor's) on the S2 DVD. Are there plans to do that on future DVDs?

Lucy Lawless: Yes, there are. I find it very useful to have Rob there, because he has a completely different take on things, and he was able to spark us off in new ways, with new insights and things we hadn't thought of before. He made it more interesting for both of us. We were a little played out talking about the show until Rob came in, and Renee and I felt it got a lot more interesting all of a sudden.

An update on the news about the commentary for Season 1 episodes by Lucy, Renee & Rob. Anchor Bay have indicated they won't be re-releasing Season 1 with the commentary (Click here to read the reply from Anchor Bay)

Sharon Delaney has responded to this by saying: that she was told by Rob that Lucy, Renee & Rob DID record the commentary. So at this point it's a wait and see job about whether we will get to see/hear the commentaries for the three episodes of Season 1:

Sins Of The Past -- Lucy, Renee
Callisto -- Lucy, Renee, Rob
Is There A Doctor -- Lucy, Renee, Rob

What's interesting to note is that Anchor Bay is the distributer rather than the company creating these DVDs.

• Lucy and Renee: The Early Years videotapes are in house and are being mailed in the next two days. When Lucy and Renee first began appearing at our conventions, I thought it might be a good idea to videotape them -- just to be able to look back and reminisce. So, I went out and bought a camcorder. Lucy and Renee thought it was a good idea, too. And they got copies of all their conventions. When we asked if we could release that footage, they agreed. It's time to share with all the fans that weren't able to attend at the time and the newcomers who missed out. The camera is a little shaky at times and the color isn't spot on, but the excitement is all there.

Region 1 News (US/Canada)

the XENA/HERCULES company has begun shipping the XENA Season Two DVD sets. This set is by the original people who were releasing the DVDs www.xenadvd.com - not Anchor Bay (I assume Anchor Bay will probably release season two at some point also). It does include an extra disc with director and actor bios, trivia, something called the "Xena Chronicles" and a photo gallery.

  Just thought I better let you know that JB HIFI have a MASSIVE SPECIAL on the Xena DVD season box sets...I just went & bought season one parts one & two & season two parts one & two for $22.99 each.So I spent $91 for all four boxs..... They are usually $56.99 each box so thats A HUGE saving...

Updated info about the Season 1 DVDs for Region 1 (US/ Canada)
The Season One DVDs of Xena are going to have 5.1 Dolby Digital Suround Sound, unlike the 2.0 stereo sound on the Region 2/4 DVDs. The 24 episodes will be on six discs, while the seventh disc will contain Scripts. Screensaver, Xena Chronicles, Photo Gallery, Poster Gallery

I just received a call from a sales lady at Davis/Panzer (the company that produces the XWP/HERCULES videos) and she informed me that season one of XWP on DVD is now available for ordering in the US - $99.95 + $9.95 for shipping, $109.90 total.  If you're interested you can contact her, Lena is her name, at 1-800-959-2480. She says they'll be shipping in 6-8 weeks.
