The following is from Sharon Delaney for Chakram #12

Here's a tidbit from Lucy's interview in Xena Newsletter #12 that I
thought you might enjoy:

The new "Lyre, Lyre" Xena CD soundtrack had just arrived in the office
and I was having fun listening to Lucy singing the Beatles' song "We Can
Work It Out," that had been cut from the episode. I'd had the tape on
when she called. Now I remembered reading in another magazine that Lucy
and some friends had put together a band.

"Kind of," she said shyly. "I write some music with friends."

"You're the lyricist?" I tiptoed a little further into this obviously
very personal territory.

"Yeah. Sometimes I come up with songs as well," she offered. "Or one of
the guys will flick me a music bed (rhythm track) he's written and ask me
to put a song on top of it. Then I'll work on both the melody and words."

Lucy was getting a bit more into this subject and came up with an idea
the fans might like, but I'll save that for the next issue.

Josh Becker was asked about Ren PIc and his relationship with Rob Tapert. This is his reply...now this is one way kiddies never to get a job again with Rob Tapert. Excellent example of being a complete twit online.

Dear Dahlia:

Actually, Bruce isn't part of Ren Pix. He was originally, but quit soon after
"ED 2." Bruce and I get along fine. Rob is a rich, powerful guy and it's a
corrupting force and almost no one is exempt. Rob, the Great White
Shark, thinks of me as little sucker fish (his metaphor) stuck onto his
back. He thinks that every job I've ever done for him has been a personal
favor to me, even though I got no more than the minimum and someone
was going to have to do it. The fallacy of the Great White Shark is that it
believes a Great White Shark has anymore value in the scheme of life
than a sucker fish, which, of course, if does not.

Josh

and this absolute gem

Dear Annie:

I don't hate Xena fans, I just can't stand obnoxious, pushy people no
matter what their affiliations are. I am a big fan of many things, but I don't
have to kid myself believing that I have something to do with the creation
of these things. What the online Xena fans think of the show is of no
meaning or value to the making of the show. Writing long analysis of
plots, "fan fiction" and poems about the characters of a TV show is a silly,
stupid waste of time, and the people that do such things are not worth
listening to. As I've said before, the online Xena fans don't amount to 1%
of the viewing audience, so who cares what they think? Not me. Not to
mention that I'm not working on the show anymore, so cares what I think?
Xena's old news anyway and will more than likely will end at the end of
this next season. I certainly don't "hate" the online Xena fans, I'm just
bored by them and do not need anymore pushy, obnoxious letters from
any of them.

The following is from Xpose #45 - Interview with Kevin Smith

When it comes to the future of Ares-and Smith's participation in the further adventures of Xena- the actor grows suspiciously less talkative. "There's a lot of twilight of the gods stuff that you'll see in the next few months," he says coyly. "It's going to be a trip." Will he be back next year? "Ah," he says, stalling. "Whatever way I answer that question it will spoil a little bit of what's coming up for people. I'd rather it all be a surprise, so I'm keeping that one close to the chest." Fair enough, but..."Will he go on after Xena and Gabrielle kill off Gods?" Smith asks, anticipating the question. "Ares is the ultimate survivor. He will do whatever it takes to live, I think. He is shark like in that respect. He is single-minded in his pursuit of things. We've seen him lose his power. We've seen him vulnerable. If his demise is inevitable, how will he face that? Anyone can be brave if you know you are immortal. I'd like to see the stuff he's made of. That would be very interesting to me. If he has to confront his demise, how will he go to it? It's how you face the firing squad, how you walk to the guillotine that shows what you are made of. We've gotten just tastes of it, strangely enough, in the comedy episodes of Hercules and Xena, but we could be nearing the real thing now. I hope that when the time comes he faces his demise with nobility."

Many thanks to Cathy from the Xena UK Net for the information below

There are S1 tapes roughtly every 2 months -

May 29 - Black Wolf, Beware Greeks, Athens City Academy
Aug 7 - Fistful of Dinars, Warrior Princess, Mortal Beloved
Oct 2 - Royal Couple of Thieves, The Prodigal, Altared States
Dec 27 - Ties That Bind, Greater Good, Callisto

October 2 will also see the release of the next DVD - which should be a great one with three terrific episodes, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Return of Callisto and Warrior Princess Tramp.

Best of all thought, November 6th will see the release of a box set of Season 2! Actually, they are going to do it a bit like Buffy has been released here in the UK and do two half sets, 3 or 4 tapes with 12 eps on, but both will be released on the same day for £30 - £35 each. (Aussie prices would be around $70-$75)

If sales are good, they may do the same with Season 3 in 2001.

Sci Fi Sea Cruise and Robert Trebor- Many thanks to Xena Torres for passing this along

Yes, we're doing it again! Another Sci-Fi Sea Cruise is now in the works for October 13th-16th of 2000, with celebrity guests from Xena & Hercules, Doctor Who, and more, and we wanted to make sure that you knew all about what we've got coming up, while there's still some time left to make arrangements to come along and join us. We had a great time on our last voyage, in December 1999, with celebrity guests John Levene and Wendy Padbury from "Doctor Who", and Carrie Dobro from "Babylon 5" & "Crusade", sailing from Florida to the Caribbean aboard the Carnival Imagination.

Our non Who celebrity guests this time around, Robert Trebor and Mike Jittlov, are also sure to be lots of fun. Whether you're a hard core fan of the Hercules & Xena series, or just a casual viewer, you'll be happy to find that Bob Trebor is every bit as much fun in person as his character, Salmoneus, appears to be on screen. He's left a special audio message for his fans on our cruise web site, so you'll want to check out the site and hear what he has to tell you. And even if you don't already know him for his truly amazing special effects, stop-motion animation, and other technical works of filmmaking magic, you'll surely come to agree with us that Mike Jittlov, The Wizard Of Speed And Time himself, is one of the most unique individuals in the SF/fantasy film community. With a celebrity group like this, the 2000 Sci-Fi Sea Cruise is bound to be one big non-stop party!

After five Caribbean cruises from Florida, we're doing something a bit different this time out. We will be sailing down the Pacific Coast, from Vancouver, Canada to San Francisco, California, with a stopover in Seattle, Washington along the way. If you live closer to the West Coast, we hope you'll appreciate the opportunity not to have to fly all the way to Florida to meet the ship, and if you're still flying in from some other far away location, you'll be able to see someplace different for a change! This time we'll be aboard our fanciest and most luxurious ship yet, Holland America Line's Ryndam. She's a big, beautiful ship with lots of fun showrooms, clubs, bars, lounges, shops, a casino, a spa, sauna & workout room, a library, several pools & Jacuzzis (with a sliding glass sun-dome overhead in case of cold or rainy weather!), and extremely large spacious cabins with closed circuit TV (where we expect to be able to take over a channel for around the clock sci-fi videos, as we've done on past cruises.)

If you have web access, you can check out our Sci-Fi Sea Cruise web site for the most complete info on the cruise at any time at http://members.aol.com/sfcruise and if we have your current e-mail address on file, we'll be sure to see that you receive any further electronic updates that are issued. Our official (and exclusive) travel agent, Tedd Washington at Cruises Only, has done an excellent job for us overall in the past, and we're pleased to be working with him again. He's a genuinely nice guy, and will do his best to help you make all of your cruise arrangements. You can reach him by phone, toll free, at 800-683-7447, ext. 77260. When making your reservations, be sure to ask him to give you the optional Holland America Cruise Protection Plan, which, for less than $20 extra at the time of deposit or payment, allows your entire Holland America cruise fare to be fully refundable if you should need to cancel, for any reason, up to the day before departure! That way, you can safely guarantee yourself a cabin onboard NOW while some are still available, before they run out.

And they WILL run out EARLY this year, as this is a special once a year sailing, and many other groups and individuals are booking the limited number of cabins all the time. Once again, I hope that this year will find you ready, willing, and able to come along and join us, and I look forward to being able to welcome you aboard in October!

Cheers - Dan Harris, Cruise Organizer

Unfortunately, Xena Warrior Princess was not supported by the NZ public when screened on TV3. In its last season (3), it averaged a five rating in TV3's key 18-39 demographic, which is a very slim audience compared with other TV3 shows screening in prime time. For example, Charmed averages a 12 rating in this demographic. TV3 is committed to finding a timeslot for Xena whereby the show can develop a demographic for its audience.

News from Phil Dodd, the Drama teacher at Wanniassa High (High School) in the ACT (The Australian Capital Territory - where our nation's capital is) that is doing The Bitter Suite stage musical

Cheers from Wanniassa High School, Home of the first live-on-stage Xena Production in the Xenaverse! Rehearsals continue to gain momentum as production dates draw near. In recognition of the work done by the students in transferring this wonderful episode from the screen to the stage we are planning to have a Gala opening night on Wednesday, November 17th. at Erindale Theatre with an emotional closing night on Thursday, November 18th. One important fact to remember is that NO student involved in this tremondous educational exercise is over the age of 16, and many haven't even been to see a live stage-musical before.

From the design of the poster to the stage design & construction to the make-up & costumes, they have done it all. Interest in the local community is running high with many advance bookings already being taken.

With just 3 weeks till opening night, fear & nerves start to take over as there are still many things to be finalised.

Until next despatch,
Cheers,
Phill Dodd

There's a site called BookCloseOuts.com, that has a wide variety of books for very cheap prices. I just ordered the Xena Scrolls book and the Xena postcard book for $3.99 each. HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - As ``Hercules'' nears its demise in syndication, Studios USA has cast the leads in one of its replacement series, slated to air in January. Bruce Campbell (the ``Evil Dead'' films) will take the lead role in ``Jack of all Trades,'' in which he plays a British spy living the life of a wealthy spice merchant. Campbell also had a recurring role in the ``Hercules'' and ``Xena'' series as Autolycus, the King of Thieves. Kiwi actress Angela Dotchin has also joined the cast of ``Jack,'' a weekly series from Renaissance Pictures, home of ``Hercules and ``Xena.'' The new half-hour, set in the French East Indies during the mid-18th century, follows the adventures of Brit spy Jack Stiles. Dotchin will play his boss. ``Jack'' will be teamed on Jan. 17 with another action half-hour, ``Cleopatra 2525,'' as part of a ``Back 2 Back Action'' programming block.

Lucy's best day of her career

"Let me tell you about the best day of my career! It happened, actually, in February of 1999 I believe. That was when I discovered that MTV had built this clay figure of me playing Xena and put me into one of those Celebrity Deathmatch shows that they do. You know what I'm talking about? It's this thing where they turn you into a clay character-Claymation or whatever--and they have an announcer and it's all just so absurd. You are fighting another celebrity in the ring, right? I got to go up against Calista Flockhart from Ally McBeal. That was just no contest. I wiped the floor with that poor woman. Let me just say that I wasn't offended at all. I was floored. Of all the little merchandising knockoffs and things that have featured Xena or just my face, this one really hit home for me. It was like--my God, I'm part of popular culture! There is an offensive clay image of me on TV, and I'm trying to tear apart an equally offensive clay likeness of another actress! It was all just so surreal to me. How can it ever get any better than that? I simply don't think it can.

Many thanks to Liz for the following news:
_Variety_, Sept. 27-Oct. 3, 1999, p. M21, in their report on MIPCOM 99, the international TV marketing conference, in article on Indonesian TV, "Appetite grows for U.S. fare" has a picture of Xena, with sword and sneer, and caption -- MUST-SHE TV: "Xena: Warrior Princess" is still one of the rulers of Indonesian hearts.

The article says --

Among American fare being shown by SCTV {Indonesian TV network} are "Xena: Warrior Princess," "The X-Files," "Melrose Place" and "Highlander," and pics such as "Action Jackson."

Pages M18-M19 has an interesting list of what different countries pay for TV shows. For a one-hour drama, such as Xena, the rates per episode in U.S. dollars are --

Argentina $3,000
Australia $40,000
Austria $12,000
Belgium $5,000
Brazil $2,000
Canada $50,000
Czech Rep $2,500
Egypt $1,500
France $55,000
Germany $200,000
Greece $5,000
Holland $10,000
Hong Kong $1,000
Hungary $6,000
India $2,000
Indonesia $7,000
Italy $10,000
Japan $20,000
Korea $4,000
Mexico $9,000
New Zealand $5,000
Philippines $6,000
Russia $2,500
Scandinavia $12,000
South Africa $6,000
Spain $40,000
Switzerland $5,000
UK $150,000

Total for all these markets for one episode is $671,500. But Ren Pic may be having trouble selling in India.

The following is from JJ@tedraimifan.com at Club Ted News

Club Ted Worldwide will take membership for those with INTERNET access ONLY...meaning you have an e-mail address and a way to get onto the internet. If enough people contact me PRIVATELY who only have e-mail access, we *might* consider an e-mail version, text-only version of the e-zine--but it has to be at LEAST 10 people.

Membership is set at $7 a year, payable in US DOLLARS, by check or money order. Since we will ahve internet access ONLY, there is no need to adjest prices for those outside the USA...so the price is the same if you live in New York, LA , Auckland or Antartica. If you have a computer and e-mail, then you all pay ONE price. If you are joining from outside the USA--then you will probably want to consider an International money order; check with you local bank for fees.

What your memberhsip pays for is ONE CTW membership card, mailed to your house, and the passwords for both the members' only section of the website AND the quarterly E-zine. The password for the members only section will be changed every year; the password for the e-zine will change every quarter.

Your membership is good for one year. The month you signed up is the month you renew; you will be sent a reminder at the beginning of the month that you have until the end of the month to renew. (i.e: you join in THIS month, you get a notice on 1 Oct. 2000 to renew by 31 Oct. 2000)

For those who are under the age of 18--we will be asking for the e-mail address of one of your parents. With the extent of predators on the Internet, attempting to draw youngsters to places to meet them, then attack them, we feel that it would irresponsible for us not to have a way to contact a parent is something is amiss OR to NOT have a way for a parent to contact us if they feel something is wrong with their child's involvement in Club Ted Worldwide.

Your passwords will not be sent out until your payment is received. For now, we will be using my home address, until I can get off the waiting list for a mailbox at the post office (Mailboxes Etc was too much money ;-) ). Then, everything will be sent to a PO Box in Coram.

WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING MEMBERSHIPS *YET*! We want to have the webpage set up properly before we begin taking memberships for Club Ted Worldwide. We anticipate that we will be accepting membership requests by the end of this week (Fri or Sat).

Well, it’s hard to believe that the 100th episode of Xena:Warrior Princess is scheduled to air in January 2000. We’ve had lots of discussion as to what would be the best way to celebrate this milestone,
and we will again be sponsoring a charity event to say thank you to everyone who is and has been associated with Xena throughout the years, and who have brought us countless hours of entertainment.

Like the baby donation drive, this 100th Episode Celebration will be an international event, with a number of charities around the world designated to receive donations. There are a number of organization to
choose from, but if you prefer to donate to another, we’ll be happy to forward your contribution off to whatever organization you select. Just let me know if you plan to do that, and we’ll work out the logistics.

We will be doing something a little different from what Sword and Staff usually does with this event. As a means of saying thank you to all of you for your incredible generosity and support over the past several years, we’ll put the name of everyone who donates to any charity to celebrate the 100th episode into a cap, and one name will be selected from among all donors. That person will have their choice of either an 8”x10” black and white glossy of Xena, autographed by Lucy Lawless, or a Topps series 1 trading card, #58, “The Greater Good,” autographed by Renee O’Connor. Each person who donates will be eligible for one chance at the items (regardless of the amount of the donation). The drawing is intended to express our thanks, but it will also allow Xena fans who cannot afford to bid on these items in online auctions an opportunity to win one. So, good luck!

There are a number of charities from around the globe listed below. Please be sure to make all checks payable to the charitable organization, not to S&S. Mail the check to the appropriate person or fan
group at the address listed below the charitable organization’s name. We will forward the donations off in the name of Xena fans and in honor of the 100th Episode. The drive will continue until after the 100th episode
airs in January. Additional information will be available on the Current Events page at the Sword and Staff website.http://sword-and-staff.com/current.htm

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 29, 1999--Electronic Arts (Nasdaq:ERTS), the world's largest interactive entertainment software company, announces it will ship Xena: Warrior Princess(TM) for the PlayStation(R) on Oct. 5, 1999, immediately following the start of the television show's new season.
Xena: Warrior Princess will provide game enthusiasts their first opportunity to take on the role of Xena, the ultimate mythological heroine in a video game and experience epic adventures and non-stop action.
Xena: Warrior Princess will offer many unique gameplay features. They include seven enormous worlds -- each based on scenes found in the TV show -- that encompass more than 20 unique levels.
Xena will rely on her signature moves (back flips, bicycle kicks and 360-degree splits), weapons (sword, staff and Chakram) and special power ups (a fire sword called Promethean Blade and a lighting bolt called Hand of Zeus) to advance through each level.
The game challenges Xena to progress through multiple levels and battle such enemies as Cyclops, Dryad, Golem and Medusa to save her friend Gabrielle and defeat the King Valarian and Narsus, the evil Amazon Queen, who plot to take over the world.
"Xena is a natural for a video game, given her dynamic and strong heroine character appeal," says Frank Gibeau, vice president of marketing for Electronic Arts. "All the factors that make Xena such a popular television icon lend themselves perfectly to creating a heroic female character that gamers can appreciate and relate to."
Developed by Universal Interactive Studios, the producers of Crash, Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon, Xena: Warrior Princess incorporates many recognizable elements from the syndicated action television series. The series is produced by executive producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi of Renaissance Pictures and is distributed by Studios USA Domestic Television.
Additionally, the game will introduce several newly created characters. Among them are Kalabrax, a powerful sorceress bent on revenge with the gods, and the Amazon Bird Women.
Additionally, Universal Interactive Studios completed more than 100 character animations for the game to help smoothly deliver and execute all of Xena's action-packed moves. The development team also texture-mapped the faces of stars Lucy Lawless (Xena) and Renee O'Connor (Gabrielle).
Xena: Warrior Princess for the PlayStation is a single-player, third-person perspective title and supports dual shock analog control to deliver force feedback. The game carries a "T" (Teen) ESRB rating and will have an MSRP of U.S. $39.99. More information on the game can be obtained via the product Web site at http://www.xenagame.com.

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- "Xena: Warrior Princess" star Lucy Lawless may have a cult following among lesbians -- but that doesn't extend to her male co-star Ted Raimi.

Raimi, who plays the bumbling warrior "Joxer," says he took a licking from the show's lesbian fans when he first started because his character came off as a chauvinist pig.

The actor thinks lesbian fans disliked him for interfering with the sexual tension between Xena and her female sidekick, Gabrielle.

However, after a few shows proved Raimi's character is a real wimp who takes a backseat to Xena on the battlefield, he claims the tide started to turn.

He says the lesbian fans like him just fine now, and some of the real hard-core fans occasionally invite him to "Xena nights" at lesbian bars.

(no one at this site has any comment about the use of the words lesbian and licking in reference to Ted)

The following is REALLY cool and it's an Aussie school that is doing it! I was contacted yesterday by Phil Dodd, the Drama teacher at Wanniassa High (High School) in the ACT (The Australian Capital Territory - where our nation's capital is)

Phil wrote: "After some months of negotiations I was able to get the nod of approval from Renaissance Pictures (& Studios USA) to use "The Bitter Suite" as the basis for a stage musical where my Drama students at Wanniassa High in the ACT had to convert it from the screen to the stage. This unofficial, non-profit, purely educational exercise is as far as we know a world-first & is progressing along well with the students even researching the e-archives to create their own Prequel so to explain the later action & many characters who appear. All things going well we are looking at a Mid-November completion date for the exercise."

Phil will keep me in touch with how this is going!

Xena mention time:
The October issue of Starlog (#267, page 74) in an article entitled "Maternal Menace." The mag's front page promo reads

"Hercules - The Mother of All Monsters." Pat Jankiewicz wrote this article about Bridget Hoffman (Echidna) and the relevant part reads: As Hercules and Xena -- and their numerous allies and cohorts -- frequently cross paths, might we see Echidna try to kill a certain Warrior Princess? "Why not? She lives in the same neighborhood, they run into the same people and," Hoffman smiles coyly, "Echidna's not dead."

17 September 1999

I was recently contacted by Ferdi who is a Brazillian fan as well as by others, in connection with a post I added here on the 23rd August. It had to do with the dubbing of Xena and the actors that did the dubbing. The Brazilian Xenites were mounting a protest against the actors who dub the voices for Xena and Gabrielle. The actor who dubs the voice for Lucy, Sheila Dorfmann, made some remarks that offended some of the Brazilian fans. The letter below indicates otherwise:

"Many Brazillian fans were sad to find out that other fans had started a petition asking Studios USA to subtitle XWP and to stop the dubbing. Ms Dorfmann expressed her opinion and she has that right as the person who does the dubbing for the Xena character. Most people prefer to listen to the original actor's voices...

Both women are as talented as Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor and I'm quite sure they don't appreciate the "reception" from Brazillian fans who watch the show.

This message is only to show that Sheila and Sylvia have the support of many Brazilian fans who love their work!"

The latest issue of the FEMME FATALES Magazine( Vol.8, #6 ) is heavy with Xena-related articles. The cover of the magazine is a beautiful piece of artwork by David Voigt. It shows Lucy Lawless, from the waist up, reclining in a sheer black dress, her long hair cascading to her shoulders. Behind her is a large chakram, inside of which is Xena in full battle gear with chakram in hand.

Inside the mag., there are five articles on the show, and covers four ofits actresses; Lawless, Stansfield( Alti ), Tydings( Aphrodite ), and Rappaport( Otere ). Altogether, the articles span about two dozen pages( including 35 photos of various sizes ). I haven't had time to read much of the magazine yet; but glancing through it, it seems to cover a lot of old ground, with some new stuff thrown in. The specific articles are :

1) "Xena Warrior Princess" by Dan Scapperotti. This is the main article. Mr. Scapperotti wrote a couple of other Xena articles for this magazine in the past. While this article is not identical, it does cover Lawless in Xena from 'day one'. It includes Lawless' first few seasons of XENA, her accident, "Grease", the animated movie, and the subtext issue. From my quick glance through, the article doesn't appear to cover recent events much, if at all.

2) "Producing Xena Warrior Princess" by Dan Scapperotti, covers Rob Tapert. Once again, a lot of previously told, Tapert history and his thoughts on the show.

3) "Evil Witch Alti " by Jake Woods, concerns actress Claire Stansfield. Most of this article appears new( at least to me ), as it covers Stansfield's entire career, with a lot of "interesting" remarks by Claire. Her article is three pages long with 2 b/w photos as Alti; 1-b/w photo as the feral woman in the X-Files "The Jersey Devil"(apparently X-File's Duchovny has helped her land a couple of roles); and 1-b/w photo as herself in a two-piece swimsuit. As I said, I've only skimmed through all of these articles, but I still got a chuckle or two from some of Claire's comments that I happened across.

4) "Xena's Aphrodite" by James G. Boutlier on Alexandra Tydings, is six pages long( with 7 photos, including one two-page color, full-body shot of her as Aphrodite ). This article appears to be strictly about Alexandra's HERC & XENA Aphrodite character, and her 'take' on her.

5) "Sheeri Rappaport Xena's Otere " by Sheeri Rappaport, where the actress basically describes how her role went on XENA. The article is billed as her 'Sin Trade' Diary, where she describes some events that took place during the 'shooting'. Two pages, three photos. Here's what she says about Lawless : "Lucy Lawless ? Her blue crystal eyes slice thru long, dark locks of hair. She's beautiful. Sorry, ladies, she is nice. Sorry guys, she is smart." She also praises the Kiwis who run the nuts-and-bolts operation behind the scenes.

Cherry Hill Con snippets from Lynne:

Jacquline Kim said when she flew in she had the read through the next day. She said the actors who played Mein Su and Mein Tein were reading with accents. She was not told she had to do an accent and during the reading the read through the actors asked when she would do her accent and the director answered tomorrow. She said that when she does accents she studies and prepares for them. She said they were not happy that she was not going to do an accent. And then she added humorously, Xena is Greek and she doesn't have a Greek accent. But evryone thought the finished result worked and the crowd agreed.

Jaqculine also mention how great Lucy was to work with. She was amazed how accessible she was saying she was always sitting in her chair not away in her trailer like some stars.

Jaqculine said she is not in any future Xena Eps because she is dead. The crowd rolled and yelled then you're sure to be back. She was asked if she would reprise the character and she said it would depend on the script.

She talked about Lao Ma, and said she like the idea that she was both wise, powerful and potentially deadly. She is of Korean dissent and a Buddist. She said also studied Tai Chi.

Claire talked about how intense an actress Renee is when she is working. She said when they filming In Between the Lines and they were doing the fight scene from the end. Renee kept telling her pull my hair harder. Come on choke me. And Claire gave one of her devilous grin and said she responsed. "Okay"

Robert Trebor mentioned he had the part of Alastair in Tropical Storm.

Bruce Campbell was asked how many takes he had to do with Renee with the hands on butt scene and he said talk about buns of steel and I should know.

The following is from Lynne who went to the Cherry Hill Convention on Saturday

Jacqueline Kim was great. She said that the orignal script for THE DEBt had Xena and LaoMa as more main text than subtext. There was a scene with them dancing and really on each other. She met with RJ and felt that the relationship should be more subtextual because it works better like Xena and Gabrielle. Someone asked her if she was aware of the subtext before she got the script and she said absolutely and that's when she talked about the original script. Someone asked if she saw her relationship to Xena as strictly her mentor and her answer was LaoMA was a very lonely woman and was looking to Xena to fill that relationship.

23 August 1999

The following information is from Haydee who is a Brazilian Xenite.

The Brazilian Xenites are mounting a protest against the actors who dub the voices for Xena and Gabrielle. The actor who dubs the voice for Lucy, Sheila Dorfmann, was rather rude about Lucy in a Brazilian magazine (I wonder if Ms Dorfmann realises that her comments would be circulated to all the xenaverse? Probably not). In that interview she said that she has to work very hard with her acting because Lucy Lawless "only knows how to raise her eyebrows"!

So in true Xenaverse fashion the Brazilian Xenites are going to show Ms Dorfmann the meaning of Xenite Strength :-)

According to Haydee she does a terrible job dubbing. They are going to start a petition to ask Studios USA to subtitle Xena and to stop the dubbing. If you would like to help with this or you are a Brazilian Xenite contact Haydee Oliveira haydee@pobox.com

The latest issue of Cult Times mentions on the back page that they had a web poll after the last Special Edition was released (with Xena on the cover). Xena made it to third place and the web poll will continue until the next special edition is released. Xena has since dropped to fourth place but only needs about 215 votes to take first. Lets see if we can't get Xena back on top. The address is http://www.visimag.com/culttimes/cs10display.htm
