It will be an archive of news from around the xenaverse that isn't classed as
rumours (which will go to the rumours section) but general news concerned the

Entertainment Wire - 18 December 2001 reports that -- Oxygen, the women's cable network featuring primarily original music, talk, health, comedy and sports programming (and of course Xena) moves to Time Warner Cable of New York City's Channel 61 on Wednesday, December 19, 2001.

The following is from Sharon Delaney from The Official Xena Fan Club

The rains held off until the last person pulled out of the driveway and then the skies opened up. But for three hours, we trained our cameras on two delightful, silly, warm, loving and playful friends -- Lucy and Renee.

"Coffee Talk" was filmed at Lucy's house on Monday, November 12. I think I mentioned that we originally planned to have them sitting at a kitchen table. However, when Lucy and I were talking about the logistics of various tables in her house, she mentioned a king-sized bed in her guestroom and I pounced on the idea of a "slumber party." They didn't actually don bunny slippers, but Lucy and Renee thought that setting would be perfect and the scenario of two gossipy girls tickled their fancy. They hatched up an opening that I think you'll enjoy <G>

Lucy and Renee flipped through our new 2002 Xena calendars looking at photos and remembering things that happened during the making of the episodes. And for a grand finale, they were joined by Masters Julius Tapert, an old hand at being on camera, and Miles Muir, making his film debut! <G>

I'm going to spend the next few days editing and getting it ready for fan club kit #5.

The following is from Mist at Sword & Staff regarding the Monopoly games that have been signed by Lucy and those that haven't been signed:

  • All the UNSIGNED Monopoly games have been reserved and I cannot take any more orders for those games. There are some autographed games left for sale for anyone who may be interested. They are $100 (plus shipping and postage) and are autographed by Lucy Lawless on the game board. For those who have asked, the signed games have been resealed with shrinkwrap. The games are enroute to NY from California and I expect delivery sometime around November 16th. For more information go to: http://sword-and-staff.com

8 November

5 November

From: MistNY@aol.com

I heard from the freight company about the autographed Monopoly games. They arrived in Los Angeles on November 3, and are being shipped by rail to New Jersey, where I will have to pick them up. Estimated time of arrival on the East Coast is November 16th. I will try to pick the games up as soon as possible after they arrive, and once I have them in my possessiion, a group of "elves" has volunteered to help pack them up and get them out in the mail as quickly as is humanly possible. They will be sent out in the order that payment and postage is received.

The unsigned games are being shipped separately from NZ, and are not included with this shipment. No word yet on when those games will arrive, but I'll let you know as soon as I do.

I still don't have all the info on the shipping and postage costs. I do know that the gross weight of the shipment is 1477 pounds, but that doesn't help calculate priority postage on each game, so I do apologize for not having that info yet. As soon as I have the information, I will be in touch with each person who ordered a game with particulars about payment and costs.

Starship has asked that you use credit cards to pay for the games if at all possible (payment to Starship Foundation). Otherwise, payment must be by bank check. No personal checks and no postal money orders please. I will set up a PayPal account in my name to cover the cost of shipping and postage and will include information on those costs when I email you. Hope that works for everyone. By using credit cards and PayPal we will speed up the process considerably, and cut down on the use of the post office, which given current issues, isn't a bad thing.

There are still some autographed games available and only a few unsigned games remain, so if anyone would like a game, you should let me know soon. Just send an email with the word Monopoly in the subject line to MistNY@aol.com.

For those who asked, all autographed games should all be sent out before Christmas. Also, anyone who ordered a game and didn't get a confirmation from me, should contact me at MistNY@aol.com to make sure you're on the list.

Best,

Mist http://sword-and-staff.com

Please pass along.

The following is from Queen Bee:

I just got back from the Dearborn, Michigan con. The only real news is that Creations will finally be taking orders for the Pasadena tape of  Lucy and Renee within the next 2-3 weeks.

Watch for photos of the con. Kevin and Hudson on stage was the best! Hudson was wearing a harem type outfit, which she auctioned off with the  help of Kevin wearing it! LOL! He took off his clothes, (he wears boxers), on stage. That made my day. :) Kevin put on the harem outfit, while Hudson wore his clothes. A woman asked if she could give $20 for charity to hug Kevin. Well, Hudson said if any girls would like to do the same we could. So, naturally about 100 girls ran up on stage, me included, and put $20 wherever we could find a spot on Kevin. He was very gracious and posed for photos. They managed to raise over $2100 for charity in about 20 minutes. Hudson's outfit went for an additional $2000.

In the interview with Ian Spelling, Lucy has revealed that the producers and herself finally understood why fans were upset about the series ender. Here is an excerpt from that interview

``At the end,'' she says, ``what we did was take Gabrielle's soul mate away from her. Gabrielle (Renee O'Connor) and Xena were split up. And I think that had a dreadful resonance for very many of our fans.

`For that I'm really sorry.''

That said, Lawless adds, some viewers mistakenly believed that the show's makers - chief among them her husband, producer/writer Robert Tapert, who co-wrote and directed ``A Friend in Need'' - plotted each episode with an eye toward the effect it would have on viewers.

``We really just tried to get a story on film every week,'' Lawless says. ``That's an immense task. But we broke their hearts (with the finale), I think.''

From Snow Raven:  Someone going by the name "gabrielleamazonwarior", has been selling CD's full of Xena music videos on Ebay. According to pooka, my video "At This Point In My Life" is one of the ones that was stolen and included on the CD, and there are a ton of others. Not only that, but this person had the nerve to claim that he or she made all the videos on the CD. Obviously, none of us had anything to do with this and we're mightily ticked off.  Some people are considering yanking their videos.

The particular auction in question has been stopped-- several video makers emailed her, or Ebay, or both, and we think she got scared and called it quits, but I don't want to see this sort of thing happen again. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1467130097   We're asking that people not buy any such things that might show up.  I'm afraid our sites could get shut down if Creation finds out that this sort of thing is happening.

My dear Xena Friends:

My heart goes out to you at this time.  This is a terrible, terrible thing that has happened to your wonderful country.  I am so saddened and in shock and wish there was something I could do to help, apart from sending you all lots of love and energy to recover from this tragedy.

When I attended the Pasadena Xena Convention last May, I had the most wonderful time and fell in love with America and Americans.  It was a special time for me - your hospitality, kindness, and enthusiasm, were exceptional.  I know that that special American Spirit will get you through this tragedy but it will take time.  I hope I can see you all soon ... but in the meantime, please accept my love and have courage.  Please let me know if you are all right c/- my friend's e-mail at  cathsyme@xtra.co.nz

Lots of Love from

Scifihobby.com - has Xena: Warrior Princess Season 6 trading cards available. Many thanks to Queen Bee for the info

Jen Hale (aka Nikki Stafford), the author of the book "Lucy Lawless & Renee O'Connor: Warrior Stars of Xena" is writing another book dealing with a book of stories written by Xena fans, stories of what the show has meant to you,  how it has changed your life, what change it has brought about in your beliefs. To find out how you can contribute your story, email Jen at robjen1@internet.look.ca for submission guidelines and other information."

Here's an update on Jen Hale aka Nikki Stafford: "I just wanted to keep you updated that we're still on schedule for  the Spring 2002 release (the cover is being touched up right now) and while I still need lots more stories (I think many people are waiting for the actual deadline (Sept. 30, 2001) before they'll send in stories ) I'm having a lot of fun reading through the ones I already have.  Also, FYI, I'm doing a book of Star Trek stories to come out at the same time.  Same idea - how ST has changed your life -- and I've gotten some great stories over there, too. If you're also a Trekker, by all means, send me a story to go in that book, too!"  :)

From Sword n Staff:  As you are probably well aware, there is constant and urgent need for blood donors. Sickness, surgery, and accidents affect us all, and sadly, there is rarely a supply necessary to meet demand. In fact, blood donations have  dropped off considerably in recent years. Unfounded fear of contracting diseases like AIDS, Hepatitis, and any number of blood-borne diseases has taken a toll on an already limited supply of blood. Add to that the fact that  importation of blood from Europe into the United States is now in jeopardy as a result of fears of mad cow disease being contaminating that blood supply, and the projection for meeting demand is pretty dismal.

What I am suggesting is that each of us does something to help members of our own communities by taking an hour or so to drop by a blood donation point in your own community. It is painless, and one visit to a blood bank could save up to three lives.

For those of you who would like to become donors, please know that you must be at least age 17, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be in good general health. All donors receive mini-medical exams, and refreshments are served. By law, the blood center will be required to ask for a photo or signature ID. If you have additional questions or want to know if you qualify as a blood donor, please visit http://www.nybloodcenter.org/framesets/FS- 1b.htm That is the site of the New York Blood Centers, and their website will provide a wealth of information on blood and blood donation. Be sure to check out their FAQ if you have any questions on whether or not you can be a donor.

If your place of business or your school doesn't already have a blood drive, suggest that they start one and volunteer to help out with it's planning and organization. Your participation would be immeasurable.

If you do drop by a local blood bank or donate through your place of work or school, please drop me a line and let me know. As with all other donations, I'll post up blood donation totals on the S&S site and I'll keep a running total of this type of donation as well.

I will post more information on national and international blood service organizations up on the S&S site soon. Hope you'll all join in. Your life, or the life of someone you know, may depend on it. Mist http://sword-and-staff.com sword-and-staff-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Moore Creations, a company that produces action figures (they're responsible for the highly acclaimed "Buffy" line) have just landed the rights to the next series of "X-Files" action figures.  They're already producing an action figure of a "Lara Croft" like character who appeared in only one episode of "X-Files". With Lucy Lawless appearing in at least 2, maybe 8 episodes there is a real possibility with enough requests they may produce a figure based on her character.  The person in charge of products and marketing's email is Erin at erin@moorecreations.com  They will reply to your emails.  Many thanks to Adam Hall for the information.

STOP THE THEFT  A group called "XenaStamps" on the Internet (I will not link the URL for free advertisement) have been STEALING wallpapers, scans, screen captures, and even Creation's own fan club logo to sell BOGUS stamps that aren't real by any means. What will happen if they aren't stop will be the ultimate evil. ALL of us who provide a service of art will be forced to remove them from the web entirely.

mailto:stamps@stamp-search.com Write "Paulette" and tell her what you think about theft and fraud. Email me if you want to see the work they have stolen. Until then we will look into legal action against the fraud they are perpetrating on the general public. The following comes from Holly who is the webmaster for Claudia Christian (Ivanova from B5)

Hello everybody, Well I've got a job for you. Many of you are fans of Claudia Christian and Alex Tydings. They've been involved in developing a show called Hourglass. The website is http://www.hourglass1.com   We've just put it up and now it needs visitors. Why? They've got a big meeting on Thursday with some folks from MGM. One of the things they are taking is a sheet with statistics in
it. The idea is that if we get enough hits in a short period of time, it will show that the show already has potential because it's got a built in audience. There's not very much time but I know we can do this. So I invite you to take the challenge and show these people that fans do have the power and care about what they see on TV.  Thanks and any questions you may have you can always email me, at webmistress@claudiachristian.net

Xenites around the globe unite!  It's time once again to honor one of the television's greatest, most ground-breaking programs by casting your ballot for the 2001 ARGO Awards!  This annual celebration of all the *great* things about "Xena: Warrior Princess" is YOUR chance to give some love back to the people who worked those long New Zealand hours during it's final season.  The ballot box is EASY to use and super-spiffy thanks to Clio and those krazy kids at Logomancy!  Be sure to give them some love after you've voted by dashing off a quick "thank you" e.mail!  The awards as we know it wouldn't be possible without them.  Just click on the URL above and voila!  You are there!

Once the voting closes and the elves are done counting, get ready for the wickedest party of the summer at the GRAND re-opening of the Palace at Whoosh!  This is going to be an off-the-charts event filled with special guests galore and more fun than you can shake a chakram at.  The date hasn't quite been set in stone yet, but if I were you, I'd keep Saturday, July 27th open on your social calendars...

But that's not all.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better than this, Team ARGO has one last trick up it's sleeve.  Coming this July, the ARGO Legacy Awards - a commemorative event celebrating the ENTIRE run of the series.  LOTS of details to follow on that deal so stay tuned!

After 6 glorious seasons, "Xena: Warrior Princess" lives on in the hearts and spirits of its incredible fans.  Let's gather together once more in the name of the Greater Good to celebrate the show that changed all our lives.  Remember, the balloting only runs from June 25th to July 7th (with a midnight deadline) so don't dawdle and remember to spread the word to your bestest Xenite buds.

Watch this space for more news and updates

and as always,

Ballot On!

I've put together a writing contest for all fans with the premise being to see who can write Xena back to life in the most credible, plausible, true-to-character manner. With everything
that's happened, I'm still working through my own feelings about how TPTB have ended the show, and I'm hoping that for me as well as others, this might serve as a constructive and healthy outlet for their feelings.

The site is at: www.futuremuse.com/xena where the the bards and fans can submit, read, and vote upon the stories entered. The deadline for entries is Aug. 1, 2001 the voting ends on Aug. 15, and the winners will be announced on Aug. 21 (unless something catastrophic happens, in which case there will be an update on those dates).

Good News for UK Xenites

23 May

As the recent tally of Sword and Staff and other auctions have shown, the Xenaverse is populated by some very generous souls. A letter was sent to Julian from the UK about a contribution to Women's Aid charity thanking the members for their contribution

Dear Julian,

I apologise for my delay in writing to thank you and all the members of Xenafest for your extremely generous donation.

Every summer we try to put on a special programme of activities for the children living in our refuge. Our basic grant income, however, does not enable us to fund special days out but donations like yours make this possible. This summer, therefore, with the money you have given us, we are planning a trip to the seaside for both mothers and their children and, weather permitting, I am sure they will all have a lovely time.

Once again, thank you for you generosity. Please let all your members know how delighted we were to receive your cheque for £1,486.65. We wish you and all your members the very best. We hope that you continue to meet, raise money for good causes and enjoy the adventures of Xena, the warrior princess!

Yours Sincerely,

Dallah Hoffman Project Manager Women's Aid

One of the best things about this fandom is how deep the Xenites' pockets are when giving to various charities. This generosity of spirit was quite evident during the 2001 Xena Convention (and long before it as the Sword and Staff figures can attest to). For six years the Xenaverse has dug deep. Some of the amazing donations tallys have been:

The following is from Dawn (Lt Paws) regarding the XWP Charity T-shirt sale

This is the announcement everyone has been bugging me about.....the donation totals from the XWP Charity T-shirt sale!   Now, this total does not include, the projected total income from the upcoming XWPCharityT Crossword puzzle being played in Pasadena.  Nor does it include the interest that will accrue on the account one more time before I close it and make out the two cashier's checks to the charities, so it will be a few dollars more when all is said & done.  After all expenses for the shirts, advertising and shipping, we made a total of.................  :::drum roll please:::

$10,339.03!!!!!

This total will be divided equally between the two charities, The Starship
Foundation (specifically, the Starship's Paeditric Neurosurgery Theatre,
since the Safe and Sound Appeal has closed), and the James W. Ellis

Creation Xena Posters Update - the following is from Creation Entertainment

We received over 300 posts in the "what posters should we make" poll. Thought you'd like to see the results.

In the Xena category:

Xena in the Amazon outfit was the top vote getter. And we'll be use a shot of her in that costume for one of the posters. Next up was Xena wearing the white outfit walking out of the ocean. We'll definitely do that in the next batch of posters. Other top choices were:

Xena on Argo and we've got a full body side shot of Xena riding Argo that will be one of the first four posters made.

Evil Xena on the horse from Debt
Archangel Xena from Fallen Angel
Sweaty Xena from One Against an Army

In the Gabrielle category:

Gabrielle in her sixth season outfit with the sais was the #1 choice and one of those shots will be in the first batch. Other top choices were:

Go-go Gabrielle from Lyre, Lyre
Farmer Gabrielle from Ares Farm
Archangel Gabrielle from Fallen Angel

In the duo category:
First choice was Xena and Gabrielle on the hillside from the end of Motherhood. The shot is a bit grainy, so we didn't choose it for the first batch, but we'll see if we can do that one in the next batch.

The duo shot we're going to use is the large month photo from the November 1999 calendar. It's when Lucy and Renee got the giggles during a photo shoot with Argo. Although I think the horse was an innocent bystander <G>

Other choices were:

The prison scene from Ides
The kiss from Valkyrie
The hot tub from Day in the Life
The dirty feet shot from Day in the Life
The final scene of Endgame
The campfire scene in Past Imperfect
The cave scene from Abyss
Gabrielle holding Xena in Who's Gurkhan
The bacchae bit
The Callisto campfire scene
The end of Fins Femmes and Gems

Janice and Mel received a fair amount of votes both separately and from people wanting a duo shot.

The Egyptian shots of Xena and Gabrielle got a lot of votes. As well as the dancing Xena and Gabrielle photos from Who's Gurkhan, the Arabian outfits from Legacy and the farmer girls from Ares Farm.

We will have posters of some of the guest stars in the future for Ares, Callisto and Joxer fans.

We'll put all these suggestions in the pot for future poster releases :)

We'll send a message out as soon as the posters are ready for sale.

CREATION PUTS UP RARE ORIGINAL XENA PROP FOR
CHARITY  ON FANDOM.COM AUCTION

Creation Entertainment is happy to announce that an actual Chakram used in the production of Xena: Warrior Princess is being auctioned off starting today at Fandom.com Auctions. http://auctions.fandom.com/

This is an extremely rare opportunity to own the most identifiable  "icon" of the series: this is not a reproduction! In our many years of working with Universal Studios and Renaissance on Xena this is only the second time that we have been able to auction off a Chakram actually used in the show. The presentation casing and placard is one of a kind as well, and of course the winner will receive a certificate of authenticity from Creation Entertainment.

Money raised will be for one of Creation's favorite charities: The  James W. Ellis Scholarship of Hofstra University. Read more about the charity, the prop and its presentation at Fandom.com auctions.http://auctions.fandom.com/
