31 August

Yes my main page was hacked into today - to the person/s who did this - I will trace this and action will be taken. I am sick and tired of it. This has been the 4th time this has happened. Many thanks to XIP Staffer Shari for uploading my main index page again.

The 1999 Annual Creative Emmy Awards were held in Pasadena, Ca. on 28 August 1999. In the category of "Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Dramatic Underscore)", the wonderfully talented Joseph Lo Duca was nominated for an Emmy for the episode "Devi". Alas, he was not the recipient. Maybe next year

Saturday finally arrived and Between The Lines was shown. Channel 10 BUTCHERED the episode. It was a crime to see it edited that way. One of the major edits was the final big battle between Alti and X&G. It was going fine until I blinked and found that the chakram appeared mysteriously out of thin air striking Xena in the neck. Where did it come from? And why was Gabrielle lying in the dirt with short hair?!! They started by editing from the time Alti takes Gabrielle by the hair and then cuts to the chakram hitting Xena!!! That's a whole lot of storyline cut! Earlier in the fight they didn't cut the "Xena getting pulverised by every man and his donkey" scenes. This is insane. They have destroyed one of the major storylines in the India Arc and now they are also going to ban The Way and next week is The Play's The Thing. ARGH!

For Aussie Xenites: The UK edition of MAXIM is out in stores! I found a couple at my local newsagency. Talk about an attention grabber. So if you haven't seen this edition...go grab it! It will be a collector's item I'm sure

The following information is from Haydee who is a Brazilian Xenite.

The Brazilian Xenites are mounting a protest against the actors who dub the voices for Xena and Gabrielle. The actor who dubs the voice for Lucy, Sheila Dorfmann, was rather rude about Lucy in a Brazilian magazine (I wonder if Ms Dorfmann realises that her comments would be circulated to all the xenaverse? Probably not). In that interview she said that she has to work very hard with her acting because Lucy Lawless "only knows how to raise her eyebrows"!

So in true Xenaverse fashion the Brazilian Xenites are going to show Ms Dorfmann the meaning of Xenite Strength :-)

According to Haydee she does a terrible job dubbing. They are going to start a petition to ask Studios USA to subtitle Xena and to stop the dubbing. If you would like to help with this or you are a Brazilian Xenite contact Haydee Oliveira haydee@pobox.com

A small break in my holidays....

I've been getting a few emails lately and I'm getting tired of answering this question. I DO NOT allow my montages to be used on any other site. I don't have a problem if you want to download them and use them any which way you want for your own use but I do not want my artwork on any other site UNLESS I create the montage for that site. The montage page asks people not to use them on their site. There isn't any point asking me about it since I will give the same answer. That goes for the screengrabs and a few other pics on this site that are either owned by someone else or copyrighted to them. Pictures from the Photo Club and/or Creation are not mine and they can be downloaded and used by whoever. Abusing me over why I don't wish my montages to be used on other sites is not the right way to win me over :-\  Neither is stealing them...Okay? Cool.

Folks I'm taking a few days off to enjoy Sydney's glorious winter weather, catch up with some reading (I'm reading When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit - a book I've waited 27 years to read (long story but if you want to know - email me) and catching up with some R&R - if anything urgent comes up I'll post but hopefully the xenaverse will be quiet over the weekend! I'll be updating Monday morning (unless something really urgent comes up). I will also be not responding to email so if you sent me any mail I will answer it when I get back!

For those Xenites who want to participate in the 2000 Xena Mardi Gras Float

Battle On Sydney 2000!
Given Lucy and Renee's comments at this year's Mardi Gras, a tribe of loyal Xenites are vowing to provide them with a float and anything else the gals might need for the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in February 2000. They aim to overshadow the Marching Xenas that took the parade by storm in 1998.

Campaign Organiser, Meg said: ‘We want to take the ultimate fantasy to Sydney, and are looking for Xenites worldwide to rise to the call. We need Amazons, Romans, Centaurs, Gods and Goddesses to build sets, provide costumes, music, sponsorship, etc. and of course to walk/ride alongside our heroines.' She confirmed that nothing more was required than an overwhelming desire to bring Xena and Gabrielle to Sydney and a willingness to use however many skills they could bring to the table. No matter your age, gender or sexuality these Xenites  want you!

Anyone interested in taking part, no matter how far the distance or how few the skills, should contact the Float Master at : mgfloat2k@xenafan.com

This could be the best experience of your young life.

I will be creating an Official Mardi Gras Float Page for those that want to keep updated with the latest news about the float. That page will be up shortly.

Message from a bard:

Dear fellow Xenaverse bards;

Greetings! My name is Shahn-Ryan Schumacher and I have a proposal. I am the author of the story, "The Warrior and the Time Lord" which is a Xena/Doctor Who cross-over piece. I've come to love the story very much and I want to see it continue. However, with my hectic work schedule, I don't get to work on it as much as I'd like and when I do have the time, I'm usually too exhausted. If ANYONE would be interested in helping me to finish the story or would like to try to take it over altogether, please let me know. I've been working on it for over 2 years now and am just wrapping up the third chapter. I've asked MaryD to post this message for me and I can be reached at the following internet address silverone@hotmail.com. Those interested should have background knowledge of the Doctor Who universe and I can be reached at my e-mail address for helpful Dr. Who hints. Your help is appreciated.

Sincerely, Shahn-Ryan

Schumacher

So what was edited from The Way?
Lisa Tsering who is the Arts reporter for  India-West reports:

Yes folks "The Way" is coming back, in edited form, in the last week of August. They cut out the scene with the Hanuman head-butt, and Lucy and Renee will appear in a 30-sec. public service announcement tacked on to the beginning of the show.

The producers made it public Friday 8/13. I'm currently working on getting comments from Tapert and the head of the Hindu organization that's supervising the editing. I'll post it ASAP, within the next few days.
Many thanks to Lisa for this news!

For what it's worth I thought they would remove the scene where Xena is mocking Krishna...

Channel 10 and their sanity
(or my lack of sanity with Channel 10)

Last week I confirmed with channel 10 programmer "Trish" that BTL will NOT be seen. Melbourne channel 10 do the deciding for the whole country so I guess they should know what they are talking about. Today I see in the tv guide that BTL will be shown on the 21 August 1999 at 7:30. I'm not sure what is going on or what channel 10 are thinking (or not thinking). I guess we will all find out on Saturday. But the information that I have is that XWP will start on the 28th and not the 21st. But just in case the programmers don't know what the heck is going on...lets set the VCR.

More Wonder Woman news...MANY thanks to Correa for this!
STARGAZING:

Dispelling rumors of the Sandra Bullock and 'Buffy' kind
Date: 08/10/99 22:15
It is with mixed feelings that we set straight some of the loose talk flying about our fair
town's art galleries and coffee shops. The first concerns Sandra Bullock and the possibility that she might star in a big-screen adaptation of DC Comics' "Wonder Woman." "Yes, I've heard those rumors," the actress's mouthpiece says, "but it is just a rumor".

Now this doesn't say it's not true nor does it say it is true...I guess we wait and see.
I guess the entertainment news on the radio was (maybe) wrong. *sigh*

This has absolutely NOTHING to do with Xena but since I'm a Wonder Woman fan I thought I would throw this in. Sandra Bullock is going to be the new WW in the new movie about the incredible Amazon. Oh puleeaassee! Who is going to play Steve? Hey how about Leonardo Dicaprio! Lets stuff up the whole movie and not just the character of Wonder Woman. I still haven't recovered from hearing that Sandra will play my first hero. Go figure...I know I can't. :-(

I now return you to the normal programming....

The interviews will be conducted by two very accomplished journalists, SLK and Catherine "Cat" McKenzie, who also happen to be very fervent xenites.

In the first interview to kick start the new section - SLK (many will have read Sheryl-Lee's episode reviews here at XIP) conducts an interview with Tharini Mudaliar, the actresss who guest starred as Naiyima in the 4th season episode Between The Lines.

These interviews are EXCLUSIVE to The Australian Xena Information Page.

Latest News about a return of Xena to Aussie shores

Several people have received replies to their mail about the return of Xena to Australian TV. (Many thanks to those who emailed me to let me know). The general feeling is that Xena will be back later in the year and Channel 10 will continue with the 4th Season. As to whether they will show The Way is not known but it seems unlikely unless Studios USA return the episode into syndication.

Aussie Magazine Alert:

There is an interview with Jay Laga'aia in this weeks Who Weekly. It appears in the Inside Scoop section at the front of the magazine. In the interview Jay talks about his upcoming role in Xena, that he in now in Auckland filming.
