On the eve of a new year, I want to wish everyone a happy new year.
For those who are worried about Australian friends or family - the fires around
Sydney and NSW are contained but high winds and hot temps are going to make life very
difficult for firefighters. The Sydney Morning Herald has a map of the areas affected

Many thanks to all those who inquired about my safety with the New South Wales
and Sydney bushfires. I'm fine - I'm not in the areas affected but Sydney has been
blanketed with smoke from the fires which are reminiscent of the 1994 disaster which
devastated NSW and parts of Sydney. My prayers go out to those affected by the fires which

- The following is from Petra de Jong in the Netherlands:
Discovery Animal Planet will air a show called Hidden Europe on December
26 and 29 (this is the Dutch schedule but I think it's the same as at least the UK version
of the channel).
The show takes a look at the work of the seal center Pieterburen in Holland and follows
the release of Iolaus, a seal the Dutch Hercules and Xena fan club has adopted. During it
all they took some time to interview my sister and a friend of mine (who were there for
the event) and they talked about the other seals we adopted (Hercules, Xena, Gabrielle and
Joxer) and all the good things the fans have done for charities all over the world. Don't
know how much of that is still in the piece though.

Sharon Delaney has announced that the Director's cut of A Friend
In Need will be soon released on DVD with commentary by Lucy and Renee. In addition
Studios USA will be releasing Season 6 on DVD and if the sales support it, the entire show
from Seasons 1 to Season 5. These DVD are Region 1 (US and Canada only) No date has been
given for the release of these DVD but a possibility is Spring 2002.

This outstanding booklet has been released by the Auckland Theatre Company and has
a review of all their plays for the upcoming 2002 season. It is also their 10th
anniversary, hence the title of the booklet "decadence". They kick
the season off with "Vagina Monologues" starring Lucy. There is no picture
of Lucy featured on the A3 sized page, but her name does appear in bold capitals at the
top as the star of the cast.

"Well, as much as I wanted this to be a surprise, About Face
Theater posted their schedule before the official website could be finished. Yes,
it's true -- we're launching Xena Live 2! Amy Matheny and Elizabeth Laidlaw will be
reprising their roles as Gabrielle and Xena respectively. The official XenaLive
website isn't up yet, but I'll let Mary know when it becomes available. I've been
honored to have been asked to work on staff with Amy so I'll be able to fill you all in on
the details. As soon as the website launches, we'll have a Yahoo list up for all of
you to join up and ask all the questions I'm sure you have whirring in your brains right
now. Surprise! Well... kind of... :)--
