A few years ago, Wishes (Judith K. Parker) read The World's Shortest Stories, edited by Steve Moss (Running Press, Philadelphia, 1998), and challenged fans to write 55-word Xena: Warrior Princess fiction (hosted by The Royal Academy of Bards at academyofbards.org), which inspired the following. -- IQ

 

 

THEY SAY

(August 2007)

"They say the dead can hear our thoughts."

"Been there, done that."

"Those were unusual circumstances. We made it to old age. Might actually die naturally. Peacefully. If one of us – ."

"It’d still be, ‘Miss you. Wish you were here.’"

"Um … the live one, right?"

"I’d say …." Xena smirked. "What’s the difference?"
